The Oil minister discuss a number of cases with the Iranian deputy oil minister.

 

      Dr. Hussain al-Shahristani, met the Iranian deputy oil minister, Jawad Ogi, and the new Iranian Ambassador in Iraq, Hassan Danaii, for the Iranian side. and the duputies of the Ministry of Oil, Mr. Karim Laibi and Mr. Ahmed Al.Shammaa and the director general of Missan Oil company and the Director of Studies and Planning at the ministry. For the Iraqi side. And the two sides discussed a range of issues of common concern, including joint oil fields and Iranian gas line pipe to Syria through the Iraqi territory as well as installing the boundary markers.

      During the meeting which was held in the Ministry. The Iraqi minister shown the Iraqi readiness to facilitate the mission of the construction of the pipeline for Iranian gas to Syria through the Iraqi territory so as he invited the Iranian companies which are eligible to participate in the competition for infrastructure rehabilitation, if they meet the conditions that are necessary to deliver on such projects and urged the Iranian side, the necessity of activating the bilateral meetings of committees to resolve the issue of boundary pillars installed in accordance with the agreed geographical references in order to preserve the natural borders of both countries, territorial integrity and the need to discuss about  joint oil fields as soon as possible. And regarding the construction of a pipeline for Iranian gas across the territory of Iraq, Shahristani said "we are ready to facilitate the laying of gas pipeline across the territory of Iraq to Syria and reach the Mediterranean", adding that " it will be technical committees from both sides to examine the project and route of the pipeline with regard to Iraq".

      For his part, the President of the Iranian delegation expressed his support for the issues mentioned by the Iraqi minister and stressed that the meetings between representatives of the joint technical commissions of both countries are ongoing and will achieve good results. And said "we are in contact with the ministry through the holding of regular meetings of the Joint Commission", pointing out that there are commonalities with the Iraqi side to reach a compromise solution to all outstanding issues between the two sides. And expressed his readiness to supply Iraq with gas to run electric power plants and welcomed any Iraqi delegation to visit Iran in this regard.
